Alignment

What is Alignment?
Alignment in the OKR framework means ensuring that goals at every level are connected and mutually reinforcing. When OKRs are aligned, progress on one goal contributes to progress on related goals, creating coherence and reducing wasted effort.
For organizational OKRs, alignment means company objectives cascade to department objectives, which cascade to team objectives. For example, if the company OKR is "Become the most trusted platform in our category," the Product team's OKR might be "Achieve 95% uptime and zero security incidents," and the Marketing team's OKR might be "Increase brand trust score from 6.2 to 8.0."
Alignment doesn't mean all goals must be directly connected — you might have independent objectives for different business areas that don't overlap. The key is that they don't conflict with each other and that your most important strategic priorities receive adequate attention across your OKR set. A well-aligned OKR system creates a clear line of sight from team actions to company strategy.
