Weekly Check-in

What is Weekly Check-in?
A Weekly Check-in is a brief, structured review of OKR progress conducted once per week. It's the most common check-in cadence and provides an effective balance between staying informed and avoiding excessive overhead. A weekly check-in typically takes 15-30 minutes for a team or department.
A typical weekly check-in follows a simple structure: first, update the current value of each Key Result with the latest data. Second, assess confidence — for each Key Result, are you on track (green), at risk (yellow), or behind (red)? Third, note any blockers or insights that emerged during the week. Fourth, identify 1-3 priority actions for the coming week that will move your Key Results forward.
The power of weekly check-ins lies in their regularity. They create a rhythm that keeps goals top of mind, surface problems early when they're still solvable, and generate a rich history of progress over the quarter. Many practitioners pair their weekly check-in with weekly planning, using OKR progress to inform what they prioritize for the week ahead.
