Check-in

What is Check-in?
A Check-in is a regular, structured review of progress on your OKRs. During a check-in, you update the current values of your Key Results, assess whether you're on track, and note any blockers or changes in approach. Check-ins are the heartbeat of the OKR process — they keep goals alive and actionable rather than forgotten.
An effective check-in includes three elements: updating metrics (what's the current value of each Key Result?), assessing confidence (are you on track, at risk, or behind?), and planning next steps (what will you focus on before the next check-in?). The process should be quick — 5-15 minutes for personal OKRs — and focus on honest assessment rather than perfection.
The cadence of check-ins depends on your cycle length and the nature of your goals. Weekly check-ins are the most common and provide a good balance between awareness and overhead. The key is consistency: a regular rhythm of check-ins is more valuable than sporadic deep dives.
