OKR Champion

Last updated:

What is OKR Champion?

An OKR Champion is someone who takes responsibility for driving OKR adoption and excellence within a team or organization. They facilitate the OKR process, coach others on writing effective objectives and key results, run check-in meetings, and ensure the methodology is applied consistently and effectively.

In an organizational context, the OKR Champion role is critical during the early stages of adoption when the process is still unfamiliar. Common responsibilities include: creating templates and guidelines, facilitating planning sessions, tracking completion of check-ins, sharing best practices and examples, and mediating when goals conflict or dependencies arise.

The OKR Champion should be someone who is passionate about goal-setting, skilled at facilitation, and respected across the organization. They serve as a coach and guide rather than a police officer — the goal is to help teams embrace OKRs because they see the value, not because they're required.
